EveryStep, Greater Regional Health Offer Palliative Care Program

As one of Iowa’s oldest and longest-serving non-profit care providers, EveryStep understands the importance of finding trusted, accessible services when faced with complex healthcare needs, recovery and rehabilitation, or serious illness.

EveryStep also recognizes that individuals living with serious, complex or chronic disease sometimes need an extra layer of support in living with the burdens of illness, symptoms and stress associated with their conditions.  

In response, the organization has partnered with Greater Regional Health to bring EveryStep’s Palliative Care program to patients in the Creston and the southwest Iowa area. Palliative Care services will be available for inpatient consultations at the hospital, as well as through Greater Regional’s Visiting Provider clinic as an outpatient service. 

The Palliative Care outpatient clinic will take place from 8 a.m. to noon the first and third Thursdays of each month at Greater Regional Hospital in Creston.

“We are excited to partner with Greater Regional Health to provide this vital resource to those in our community who could benefit from another layer of organized care and support,” said Misha Curtis, EveryStep Hospice team director & Palliative Care director. “By helping patients find relief from the burdens of illness and symptoms, as well as addressing their spiritual care and psycho-social needs, EveryStep and Greater Regional Health hope to fill care gaps for individuals in our community.”  

Palliative care options will help to improve the quality of life for both patients and their families, while offering a holistic approach to specialized care close to home.

Collaborations between the two health care organizations are not new; in 2014, a partnership between the two entities led to EveryStep managing operations and patient care at Greater Regional Hospice Home, a trusted fixture in the Creston community since 2008.
