EveryStep Hospice Earns Caregiver Satisfaction Award

EveryStep Hospice in Mount Pleasant has been recognized by Strategic Healthcare Programs (SHP) as a “Superior Performer” for achieving an overall caregiver and family satisfaction score that ranked in the top 20 percent of all eligible SHP clients for the 2019 calendar year.

“Hospice care is a specialty, and this recognition further demonstrates what sets EveryStep apart from other hospice providers,” says Mike Breese, EveryStep Hospice director in Mount Pleasant. “We always encourage people to do their homework and be selective when searching for a high-quality hospice provider, just as they would for any other health care need.”

“There is a reason we earned this accolade,” adds EveryStep regional director Kimberly Endecott. “The families we serve valued the expert pain and symptom management we provided to their loved ones, our supportive counseling services, the end-of-life wishes our team made happen for families, our specialized care for veterans, and compassionate grief support services.”

The annual SHPBest™ award program was created to acknowledge hospice providers that consistently provide high quality service to families and caregivers of patients receiving hospice care. The 2019 award recipients were determined by reviewing and ranking the overall CAHPS Hospice survey satisfaction score for more than 1,400 hospice providers. With one of the largest CAHPS Hospice benchmarks in the nation, SHP is in a unique position to identify and recognize organizations that have made family and caregiver satisfaction a priority and have been rewarded for their efforts with high marks on the CAHPS Hospice survey.

EveryStep Hospice is a non-profit program which has been offering hospice care to Iowans since 1978. The Mount Pleasant-based EveryStep Hospice team brings compassionate care to people living with serious illness in eight southeast Iowa counties: Des Moines, Henry, Jefferson, Keokuk, Lee, Louisa, Van Buren and Washington.

EveryStep has earned numerous accolades in recent years, including being named a seven-time annual Top Workplace by The Des Moines Register and “Runner-up: Best Non-Profit” by the Des Moines Business Record in 2019. EveryStep Hospice is certified by CHAP (Community Health Accreditation Partner) and is a long-standing participant in the national We Honor Veterans program.
