United Way Day of Action Volunteers Comes To EveryStep

United Way of Central Iowa recently organized its annual Day of Action, where organizations and volunteers across the metro team up to provide 10,000 house of service in one day.

The event aims to improve the lives of central Iowans while promoting employee engagement and raising awareness about community issues.

EveryStep was lucky enough to be chosen as a benefiting partner during the Day of Action.

Two separate groups of volunteers from Mercer and Davis Brown Law Firm took on projects at EveryStep's Bright Kavanagh Center and at our Kavanagh House on 56th Street.

The groups spent the afternoon tackling a number of gardening and maintenance projects including trimming hedges, cleaning windows and building raised beds for the EveryStep Community Garden, among other tasks.

"We are so appreciative of the support and hard work these volunteers generously donated for EveryStep," said Leslie Taft, EveryStep Stork's Nest manager, who oversaw the volunteers at Bright Kavanagh Center. "We cannot thank the United Way at Central Iowa enough for partnering with us to take on these tasks for their Day of Action."
