A Letter of Thanks and Love to Our Mount Pleasant Hospice Team
“When every moment matters, we’re with you at every step.”
That’s more than just a motto at EveryStep, it’s an idea borne from and exemplified by the caring, compassionate, dedicated work done everyday by our clinical staff across our service area. A recent ‘thank you’ letter to our Mount Pleasant hospice staff beautifully reinforced the depth of our teams' dedication to caring for clients and their families at every step of the hospice process.
EveryStep Hospice Services
Lucille Humphreys passed away at the age of 93 in May at her home in Crawfordsville. EveryStep provided hospice care for Lucille and was there for her and her family through Lucille’s final moments. But their care didn’t end there.
Lucille’s daughter, Mary Kay, shared this heartfelt handwritten note of gratitude with EveryStep’s Mount Pleasant team thanking them for their care for her mother:
“To the outstanding team of EveryStep Hospice,
I had the pleasure of talking with Kim the other day and I was able to tell her how absolutely amazing each and every one of you are and were to Mama! (Kim, you still look beautiful, by the way!)
The care she received from all of you was above and beyond wonderful! You were all so kind, genuine and compassionate every time you were with her, without fail! I simply cannot find adequate words to express how much that meant to me. I do know how much it meant to Mama, I hope you saw that in her smile!
It is one thing to call yourself a team, it is quite another to actually be a team, demonstrating it in all you do without ever having to say a word. You all work together so flawlessly and beautifully. Please understand that is to everyone’s credit! The respect and genuine caring you show not only to your clients and families is also evident in the way you trust each other. I truly believe that is such an integral part of your success. I thank you for letting me see that in all that you do! I want you to know that your respect for each other was an immediate comfort to me as a family member.
God was kind enough to bring several of you into my life some years ago. I had a great deal of trust in all of you because I knew your work and saw your faith. Of course, I had no idea He would bring back to me full circle to help me through this very difficult part of my life. Thank you so much for everything! Mama always told me that “the lord works in wonderful, mysterious ways”. Amen to that! I want to thank all of you who came into our home and became family: Kathleen, Josephine, Melissa, Gwen, Gordon, Katie, Allison, Anna, Vicki, Deanna, Mike and my Val! (Please forgive me if I forgot someone). May God bless you all a hundred-fold! I will definitely pass on the amazing experience I was so blessed to have with your team to all who will listen. I also thank you for the beautiful rose you gave me in memory of Mama.
Mike and Val – thank you so much for coming to the visitation and funeral. Again, Words cannot express how very much that meant to me! (You guys both looked so nice – Mike, so did Mary Beth). Mike, thank you for speaking at the funeral – it was perfect. As you know, Mama left this world without pain or struggle; she was so peaceful. What more could one ask for? She was able to tell all of us goodbye, and I truly believe she waited for it to be just her and I when she left. Mike, you were with us and played ‘Amazing Grace’. I am so grateful you were there!
OK, as usual I have talked too much! May the Lord bless each and everyone of you in all that you do and keep you safe in all your travels (you drive all over, please be careful!)
With Gratitude and Love,
Mary Kay Rappenecker”
