4.5/5 Stars! New Employees Give Onboarding Process High Praise!
In 2021, EveryStep improved its onboarding process for new employees, ensuring they feel skilled, informed and well-prepared during their first two weeks before fully taking on their roles. Here’s what a few new employees had to say:
• “I found the information given during the first two weeks via Teams meetings was very helpful. I felt that I learned a lot about the technology and applications that EveryStep employees work with on a day-to-day basis. I also found the onboarding with my manager was helpful, and I learned about things I should know working in my specific location.”
• “I really enjoyed the time the CEO took to welcome each employee and hear about what their backgrounds are. He really took an interest along our tour of the other services that EveryStep provides in the community.”
• “The thoroughness of the onboarding and the timing spread out over two weeks was fantastic. Best onboarding I have ever been a part of.”
Supportive, Safe Environment That Brings Families Together
EveryStep is committed to providing comfort and dignity to all who need our care at the end of life. To support that goal, we allow and encourage family members and friends to visit their loved ones at Kavanagh House, our hospice house on 56th Street in Des Moines. EveryStep believes nothing is more important than the health and safety of our patients, clients, their families, staff, and our volunteers. To that end, our staff are equipped with all appropriate PPE for patient care and safety. We also have strict protocols mandating masks, symptom checks, social distancing, and the number of visitors allowed within our hospice houses at a given time. We believe this approach supports the emotional needs of our patients and their loved ones while also keeping our workforce healthy. Vaccination Requirements for New Hires
EveryStep is committed to nurturing a workplace culture that embodies teamwork, compassion, excellence, integrity, and respect. The COVID-19 pandemic has presented many complex challenges for EveryStep to ensure all staff are protected and respected when there are differences of opinion regarding vaccinations. EveryStep respects individual choice and trusts individual staff to know what is best for own circumstances.
EveryStep also has an enormous responsibility to protect the health and safety of all employees and maintain essential staffing to care for patients or clients in medically fragile and vulnerable circumstances.
After careful consideration and due diligence with regulatory bodies, EveryStep implemented a policy to require staff (and volunteers) to become fully vaccinated for COVID-19 in response to the CMS Omnibus Rule – COVID-19 Health Care Staff Vaccination issued November 5, 2021.
For the sake of workplace safety and excellent quality care delivery to more than 60,000 Iowans each year, EveryStep mandated staff become fully vaccinated (or seek approval for medical or religious exemption) as another important feature of the exposure control plan and infection control risk management. For additional information or questions, please reach out to EveryStep at HR@everystep.org.
