Celebrating EveryStep Nurses: Meet Tara Campbell

Tara Campbell, a home care nurse with EveryStep’s Centerville team, says she chose a nursing career because she loves taking care of people. After graduating from Centerville High School in 2003, she received her nursing degree from Indian Hills Community College in 2006. “I started working in an assisted living facility while I was going to nursing school and I knew it was the right career path for me,” says Tara.

After receiving her nursing degree, Tara served at Golden Age Care Center in Centerville for 13 years. “While I was [there], I worked alongside the hospice nurses from EveryStep, so I knew it was a great group of people.” When an opportunity to join EveryStep’s Centerville team arose, she took it and Tara has been with EveryStep for over two years.

“I love my work-life balance, great co-workers and leadership,” says Tara. “I know I work for a great company.”

Married for 12 years to husband Mike, Tara has two children – 11-year-old Chase and Sadie, age 8. She enjoys being outdoors, whether playing ball with her kids, fetch with her dog, Duke, or feeding and watching the birds in her yard.

It’s not often that your dream job just happens to be in your hometown, but Tara has found personal and professional happiness in Centerville. “I love spending time with patients one-on-one in their homes,” says Tara. “I love listening to the elderly and all their stories. I love helping others, even in the slightest way.”

National Nurses Week, first observed in 1994, honors the contributions and sacrifices of the medical professionals who keep us healthy. It is celebrated between May 6, National Nurses Day, and May 12, the birthdate of celebrated nurse Florence Nightingale.

EveryStep is fortunate to have dedicated and talented nurses who work with expectant and new mothers and their children, individuals in the care of EveryStep Hospice, and seniors and others that receive home care services through EveryStep.
