Cheer Box 2025 Thank You Notes
In 2025, EveryStep's Amanda the Panda's Cheer Box program granted 728 anonymous wishes to spread some holiday spirit where it is needed most - in the lives of those spending their first holiday after the loss of a loved one. Through an incredible week of work from an army of volunteers and sponsors, thousands of presents were wrapped, packaged, and delivered across two-thirds of the state.
Now that the boxes have been delivered, the thank you notes from recipients are pouring in. Here, in their own words are, are the stories of what Cheer Boxes mean to their recipients.

“I just wanted to say thank you so much! You guys brought tears to my eyes this morning. I didn’t know how I was gonna make it through my first holiday & you guys brought me hope. & courage & I’ll forever me grateful! Thank you for making me smile and showing me that I’m not alone. I hope you have an amazing holiday!”
“I know this Cheer box was well received. Thank you so much for a great program that really helps people. When my mom died my friend signed me up for a box. When it came, I cried. Thank you again. The thought and time going into your gift boxes is amazing and so appreciated.”
“Today I received an anonymous gift box from EveryStep Grief and Loss – Amanda the Panda. My heart is overjoyed that someone would nominate me to receive this. This is such a difficult holiday season without my dad. I miss him so very much. He was the rock and spiritual leader of our family. We all have a big void in our hearts, but we know where he is and that we will see him again one day. I would like to thank whoever sent me this comforting gift. It means the world to me. I just wish I knew who it was so I could give them a big hug! If you don’t know about this organization, look them up. They do great things!”

“(My son) was nominated to receive a care gift through his school’s grief group, and my heart is so full. The love and thought behind every single piece was overwhelming. A cozy blanket to cuddle with, a plate to decorate and set at the Christmas table in honor of his loved one, a book that gently talks about grief, a journal to write down memories, a plant that will bloom on Christmas, a puzzle, a candle, and a bear with recordings of his and Mom’s voices.
This gift was so much more than items. It was comfort, remembrance, and love wrapped into one. Seeing the smile on his face and knowing how supported he felt means everything to me. I can’t believe how incredible this program is, and honestly, I had never even heard of something like this before.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making his day and for reminding us that we are not alone.”

“I just received a box and I can’t tell you how thankful my family and I are. Losing my dad this year - who loved Christmas - after a battle with dementia, meant losing our whole world. I am beyond appreciative (that) someone would think of us during this hard time and bringing us a smile during a hard time. Thank you so much for your dedication and time, I plan to volunteer next year to continue sharing the little joys in life.”
