EveryStep Announces Organization-Wide Minimum Wage Increase
DES MOINES, Iowa (Dec.17, 2025) — EveryStep, one of Iowa’s longest-serving nonprofit organizations, announced today that it is raising its minimum hourly wage to $19, reinforcing its ongoing commitment to support and retain the compassionate professionals who carry out the organization’s mission every day.
The decision comes at a time when the cost of living continues to rise for families across Iowa. As a nonprofit dedicated to caring for communities, from prenatal support to hospice and grief services, EveryStep recognizes the importance of caring for those who care for others.
“EveryStep exists to serve Iowans with compassion and dignity, and that begins with ensuring our own team members are supported,” said Tray Wade, EveryStep President & CEO. “This increase reflects our belief that competitive, livable wages are essential to sustaining the high-quality care our staff provide to patients, families and communities.”
The new $19/hour minimum wage applies to all hourly and entry-level positions across the organization and is part of EveryStep’s broader strategy to invest in employee well-being, retention and long-term organizational stability. This follows additional efforts in recent years to strengthen benefit offerings, expand mental health resources for staff and enhance workplace flexibility.
As a mission-driven nonprofit, EveryStep relies on community support, philanthropic partnerships and efficient resource stewardship to deliver more than 20 health and human services programs throughout Iowa. By raising its minimum wage, EveryStep aims to ensure its workforce can continue to thrive even as food, housing and other necessities costs rise statewide.
“EveryStep’s team members show up 24/7 for patients, children, families and communities in some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives,” said Wade. “Investing in our staff is not only the right thing to do, but it also strengthens our mission.”
EveryStep employs more than 300 team members across 35 counties and serves tens of thousands of Iowans each year through hospice care, home health, community health programs, and grief and loss support.
