The EveryStep Hospice and Home Care office in Knoxville held an open house November 2 to celebrate the expanding in-home care services offered by the Knoxville team. These in-home services include care for those who are recovering from illness or injury, need help with chronic disease management, or are facing serious illness. EveryStep’s nonprofit health care services have been a trusted presence in Knoxville for more than 30 years.

“At EveryStep Home Health, we focus on areas where patients and families can take control of their circumstances and meet their patient-centered goals,” said EveryStep Home Care Director Karla Rohe. “To some, this could mean staying in their homes safely as long as they can by increasing strength and independence. To others, it may mean working on healthy lifestyle choices to reduce the number of medications they need to take. Patients who feel a strong sense of commitment from their home health staff often have increased self-motivation to show greater improvement, leading to decreased risk of hospitalization and increased independence.”

The EveryStep team in Knoxville is staffed by community based health care professionals. “Patients want staff who they know they can trust and depend on,” said Rohe. “It’s nice to know that your nurse is an active member of your community, not someone from the other side of the state. It’s someone who can relate to what life is like within the community.”
