EveryStep Named "Runner-Up: Best Non-profit" by Des Moines Business Record
EveryStep has been named “Runner-Up: Best Non-profit” by the Des Moines Business Record. This is the second time the organization has received this distinction.
The “Best of Des Moines” annual survey is conducted by the Des Moines Business Record via an online open-ended poll, where participants vote for the businesses, people and events that they think are the “Best of Des Moines” in dozens of categories – including best non-profit.
Since 1908, the EveryStep organization has offered care and resources for infants, children, young mothers, immigrants and refugees, families and aging Iowans. EveryStep offers more than 30 programs, and the organization serves 47 counties.
“EveryStep is thrilled to be recognized among the best non-profits in Des Moines,” says Tray Wade, president and CEO of EveryStep. "Receiving this accolade is really a reflection of how much our employees and supporters believe in our non-profit mission and the outcomes we achieve for our patients and clients."
Earlier this year, the organization recognized the dedication and sacrifice of its employees, and put their needs to the forefront, announcing the implementation of a $15/hour minimum wage. The change, which coincided with the United Way of Central Iowa’s efforts to increase the number of Iowans who are financially stable, increased wages as much as nearly $4/hour for some employees, and impact 14 types of roles within the EveryStep organization.
Last year, the organization underwent a rebrand, bringing its countless programs together under one name. While the organization is now known as EveryStep, its services, programs, and employees remain the same. In the past year, EveryStep’s nearly 400 employees provided critical healthcare and social services to more than 65,000 Iowans across the southern half of the state. The non-profit has 14 locations, including multiple, locally staffed teams for its hospice care, home care, and grief and loss services programs.
