Making a Difference Every Day: EveryStep Nurse Kris Eastin

Kris Eastin, RN, is a nurse with EveryStep Hospice in Centerville, IA. She has been a nurse for 9 years and has been with EveryStep for 11 years. Below, she talks about her role and her love of nursing.

What inspired you to become a nurse?
“I knew I always wanted to be a nurse, I wanted to do something meaningful with the satisfaction of knowing I make a difference every day,” Kris says.

In a typical workday, what are some of your normal responsibilities/tasks?
Some of Kris’ day-to-day responsibilities include case management, patient assessments, collaboration with team members and doctors, and providing companionship to patients and families.

What do you most enjoy about your job?
“I enjoy meeting my patients and families and knowing that what I have done is helping them through one of the most difficult times in their lives,” Kris says. “I have met some really great people throughout my health care journey.”

What do you most enjoy about working at EveryStep?
“Truly, just knowing that I make a difference every day in our patients and families lives.”

“I have had so many memorable moments and met some really special people along the way,” Kris says. “Every patient has taught me something new and has been memorable in one way or another.”
