Passionate Educator: EveryStep Nurse Amy Clausi

Amy Clausi, RN, MSN, CNL, is a nurse with EveryStep Community Health’s Child Care Nurse Consultant (CCNC) program, which is based in Des Moines. Amy has been a nurse for 16 years, and she's been with EveryStep for 13 1/2 years. Below, she talks about her role and her love of nursing.

What inspired you to become a nurse?
“I wanted to make a difference in people’s lives," Amy says. "I am passionate about advocating for my community and providing education.”

What do you most enjoy about your job?
“I absolutely love the children, educators, and families that I work with! I am also blessed with the best team to call my work family!”

What do you most enjoy about working at EveryStep?
“I cannot imagine not working for this organization,” Amy says. “The ability to work autonomously while also having great support from my team and leadership creates the perfect balance. I am extremely grateful for the compassionate, authentic, and transparent leadership at our organization!”

In a typical workday, what are some of your normal responsibilities and tasks?
“I typically provide guidance on infectious diseases and managing special health care needs in the early childhood setting,” Amy says. “I also provide support and guidance to Child Care Nurse Consultants throughout the state.”

However, during the past year, Amy has been spending much of her time providing guidance and direction for COVID-19 cases in early childhood programs, as many childcare providers have been struggling to keep up with changing protocols during the pandemic.
